Sea snails
Sea snails (“nudibranch”) have a variety of shapes and very bright colors. Some simply cannot be precisely defined and described, but they are really amazingly beautiful. Sea snails can be seen on coral reefs around the world - from the great Australian Barrier Reef, reefs on the Red Sea to the island of San Miguel. Be careful, as most sea snails are very toxic.
Narwhal - the closest view to the unicorn
In the cold waters of the Arctic Ocean, you can see a narwhal from the cetacean family. These are the “closest relatives” of unicorn animals in the world. Medium sized whales have a spiral horn, which is actually a tooth. In males, the horn can reach 2.7 meters. Although no one knows exactly what this horn is for, it is believed that they use it for rituals when caring for females. This activity is very similar to a battle with a sword.
Giant anteater
A giant anteater (“Myrmecophaga tridactyla”) lives in the forests and savannas of Central and South America. Representatives of this family are especially common in Western Brazil. Their very name suggests that these animals feed on ants and termites. They have a rather bizarre shape and ten centimeters of claws to get to food, a shaggy tail that balances when it digs the ground.
Interesting fact: anteaters never step on “their hands” so that the claws remain sharp.
Monkey - trunk
The trunk monkey (“nasalis larvatus”) is red-brown in color, closer to the brick shade. They have amazingly large noses and hang like a trunk. When they are fed, they should push the nose aside so that the food can be put in the mouth. These are excellent swimmers, which, in general, is not typical for monkeys. This species of monkey is endangered, and the only places where they can still be found are the forests and swamps of Borneo.
Jackson's Chameleon
Jackson's Chameleon (“Trioceros jacksonii”) is a pretty wild looking chameleon with three horns on its head. Like all other chameleons, it has rotating eyes, a fast tongue (1000 times faster than other parts of its body) and the ability to change skin color when it hears predators. These chameleons are extremely sensitive and are aggressive if the male enters the territory of another. These "beautiful" creatures can be seen in the forests of Kenya and Tanzania.
Ay-aye
Ai-aye (aye-aye) - one of the strangest and most rare species of lemurs. Unlike other lemurs, they look pretty scary. They have large eyes and ominous long fingers (especially on their forelegs). They serve so that animals can hold on to branches. The local population considers them a harbinger of failure. These little bizarre lemurs can only be seen in the eastern forests of the island of Madagascar.
Pygmy monkey
The pygmy monkey has a long tail, a skin that is quite lush and gives the little monkey the appearance of a small lion cub.In fact, they are smaller representatives of their species. Mature male monkeys weighing from 140 to 160 grams. These monkeys, in addition to their size, also impress with the sounds they make to communicate with each other.
These little creatures can be seen in the Amazon rainforest, including parts of Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia.
Frigate bird
The magnificent frigate (“Fregata”) is a bird in which males have a unique way of caring for females. Males have the so-called “chest bag” - it resembles a balloon that completely covers not only the throat, but also the chest. Each year, during the mating season (April, May), the males stand on a branch or on some platform and inflate the “chest bag”.
At this time, they cannot fly, but in order to attract the attention of the female, they beat with their beak and quickly flap their wings. If you want to see these beauties during their breeding season, you should visit the Galapagos Islands.
Malay Tapir
Malay or black-eyed tapir (“Acrocodia indica”) is the largest and most beautiful species of herbivore tapirs. Malayan tapir has white and black spots, such as a panda, and a long flexible nose, which they use when swimming. Little cubs are completely black up to six months. This allows them to hide from predators in dark forest thickets. These representatives of the fauna inhabit the tropical forests of southern Thailand, the Malay Peninsula and the island of Sumatra.
Since these animals are not easy to spot in their natural habitat, the Malaysian Taman Nagara National Park is the best place to get to know them.
Platypus
The platypus (Platypus), also one of the strange creatures in the world. They have a flat beaver tail, strange “fins” and a large beak, like a duck. This is certainly a very interesting specimen of the animal world. The platypus is one of the few mammals on the planet that lay eggs.
They can be seen in the rivers and freshwater lakes of Australia. This unique animal is one of the symbols of Australia.
