The human body contains many components that are interconnected. A pair of eyes is used as sensors, to inspect a larger area, a person can synchronously move them. Moreover, the eyeballs always move in one direction. For example, you cannot turn one to the right and the other to the left. Why it happens?
How is the visual system
The human visual organ has a complex structure in which the optic nerve, the eyeball, is secreted. The movement of the eye is carried out using six muscles located inside the eye opening. They receive signals from the brain via nerve endings.
When light hits an object, it is reflected in space. The light entering the retina passes through the lenses and enters special sensors that send signals to the brain. The latter forms an image and recognizes it. Thanks to this, a person can see the environment around.
Why do my eyes move in sync?
To ensure that the brain always gets a complete and whole picture of what is happening around, both eyeballs move synchronously, complementing each other's images. Due to this, the invisible areas are located at the edges of the visual borders, which simplifies the perception of the environment and focus on objects. If a person could spread his eyes to the side, they looked at different objects, an invisible zone appeared in the center, and the brain did not know at what point in space to focus.
To avoid such problems, the eyeballs move synchronously. The movements are carried out due to the nervous system, which connects to the eyes using the channels located on the inside of the eye. The same features have the organs of vision of most creatures.
Interesting fact: seahorses and chameleons are able to move their eyes in different directions, independently of each other. This is due to their sedentary lifestyle and the lack of the need to quickly focus on one object.
In humans and animals, sometimes the nervous system fails, and the eyes can diverge in different directions. Because of this, strabismus appears. For example, this defect is widespread among Siamese cats.
